Both analyze, but they are interested in different layers
INTPs are often pulled toward models, concepts, and whether a framework makes sense from the inside. ISTPs are often pulled toward tools, mechanics, and whether something works once it meets the real world.
One prefers understanding before action, the other learns through action faster
INTPs often want enough understanding to feel that the logic is solid before moving. ISTPs often prefer to test, adjust, and learn from what happens in practice, which makes them look more immediately hands-on.
Stress often separates analysis from response speed
Under pressure, INTPs may spiral into overthinking, delay, or retreat into ideas. ISTPs may become more abrupt, more impatient with inefficiency, and quicker to cut straight to the practical fix.
